All glory to God for bringing you here...
Welcome to my first official blog post!
I'm actually eating my mom's parmesan crisps as I type this out :)
Anyways, for your convenience, here is the link to the King James Bible version of today's chapter study!
Also, before I begin, here's a small break-down of what you can find in my Bible Study posts:
- simple english re-phrasing
- simple explanations

So, let's begin!
Genesis is the first book of the old Testament , and it talks about creation, as Genesis means "to come into being".
In the first chapter, it talks about how God created the Earth, sky, space, and their inhabitants over the course of 6 days!
Wow, 6 days only... It's pretty hard to imagine, but let me tell you, nothing is too difficult for God :)
It would have taken us humans nearly forever, if not at all, to accomplish such a mighty feat, but then again... It's God, right?
On the first day, God created Heaven and Earth. Before He could bring light down on it, the Earth was empty, dark and formless.
God created light, and He divided the light from the darkness, and gave each of them their names.
This actually reminds me of a video game I played, called Kingdom Hearts. It's all about the concept of hearts, light and darkness, and at one point, one of the characters says: "All things return to darkness from where they came" and that is actually pretty true, because even light came forth from the darkness, which was present first!
After God had created Heaven and Earth, and separated the light from the darkness, the first day ended.
On the second day, God created a firmament, which is basically a structure above the atmosphere that looks like a dome. It's what we see when we are outside and look up at the sky, which holds the sun, moon, stars, etc.
This firmament also helped divide the waters above and below it.
God called this firmament, Heaven, thus concluding the second day.
On the third day, God gathered all the water that was under the Heavens together in one place to make dry land. He called the dry land Earth, and the gathered water Sea.
Then, God commanded the growth of grass to cover parts of the dry land, as well as seeds that would make herbs and trees, that would bear more fruit with seeds inside them, and the Earth, naturally, obeyed, marking the end of the day.
On the fourth day, God commanded for light to appear in Heaven to distinguish between the day and night. He also commanded the light to be for signs, seasons, days, and years, so we could keep track of the time!
God made two great lights. The greater light, the sun, to rule the day, and the lesser light, the moon, to rule the night. He also made stars!
God made the stars and put them up next to the moon, because the moon's light if far less brighter than the sun's light. Isn't it incredible that He even thought of this??
On the fifth day, God decided to fill the seas He had created with an abundance of creatures, like fish, dolphins, whales, sharks, etc. He also filled the sky with fowl (birds).
He created all kinds of animals, from sea creatures, to winged fowl, and He blessed them all to reproduce and multiply.
This is the creation of our food! God never wants us to go hungry :)
On the sixth day, God created creatures that walk on land, such as cattle.
Then, God decided to create humans in His own image! God gave humans the dominion to rule over what was in the sea, the sky, and the Earth.
In His own image, God created men and women, and told them to reproduce and multiply, as well as take care of the Earth by replenishing and subduing it.
God told them that He has given them all this (plants, animals, fruit, etc.) to be their meat.
After the 6 days of creation, God surveyed His work and was pleased with it! :)
